DGC is a volunteer-run organization which has been successful in the past because of the contributions and effort expended
by parents and guardians like you! We ask that you sign up for one volunteer job for EACH singer you
have in DGC (i.e., if you have 2 daughters in DGC, your family needs to perform two jobs).
Please Note: If a conflict arises and you are unable to perform your job at the last minute, you are responsible for
finding a replacement. Please ensure that your volunteer obligation is met in order to avoid a being charged a $250 fee.

CONCERT RELATED JOBS
Concert PowerPoint Developer (1 volunteer) Committee lead--25% off tuition
Create PowerPoint presentations for 3 concerts and helps to present the slides during the concerts. This will be done prior to the concert. This is a Committee Lead role, and volunteer receives 25% off tuition for their services. Volunteer will receive song titles from the Directors and/or President, and images from each Director to use in the presentation. Volunteer will be responsible for conducting the slideshow presentation during the concert, unless other arrangements have been made by Volunteer and President, and will receive free admission to the concert (as long as volunteer is conducting the slideshow during concert).
Concert Program Developer (1 volunteer) Committee lead--25% off tuition
Create concert programs for all 3 concerts in a desktop publishing program. Must be proficient in desktop publishing and have an aesthetic eye for detail, create files that are printer-ready, be able to place program order with the printer, pick up the finished programs from the printer (in Danville), and deliver to the church by 9am on the day of each concert. Volunteer will be provided content from the Artistic Director and/or President. This task will be done prior to each concert, with work starting a few weeks before each concert in December, March and May.
Concert Photographer (1 volunteer) Priority seating for photographer & 1 guest, 2 complimentary tickets/concert
Take group photographs to document the choirs throughout the concert. Edit, curate and upload albums to Zenfolio website.
Special Needs Guest Usher (3 volunteers per concert)
Arrive at 9:30 am and check in with the Vice President in charge of volunteers. This volunteer role is an active floater position and will be asked to help troubleshoot specific tasks that arise pre-concert (past examples include a trip to Target for supplies, assisting board members with their duties, etc.) Seat any special assistance guests by 10:20 before doors open at 10:30 for everyone. After the concert, pick up garbage and discarded programs in the seating area, give any lost and found items to a board member, and make sure nothing is left in bathrooms. Check out with a board member before leaving concert.
Take Down – All 3 Concerts (4 volunteers per concert)--1 complementary ticket/volunteer
Help dismantle equipment at concert immediately after concert finishes, and load in U-Haul. Then drive to Charlotte Wood Middle School and meet U-Haul drivers to help unload and put away equipment at Charlotte Wood. Approximate time is one hour. One free admission ticket per concert per volunteer included.
Preparatory Chorus Chaperone (12 volunteers total; 4 at each concert)
MUST BE A PREP MOM: Help singers and Director as needed; you will sit with the girls during the concert. Chaperones will help ensure singers are “concert” ready, quiet during choir rehearsal prior to concert, and during concert. Must arrive at 9am. Chaperones will sit with their assigned choir during the concert, and will be able to watch the Preparatory choir perform. Chaperones accompany Preparatory choir backstage at some points during concert, and may not be able to view performances of other choirs during concert. Chaperones return to Preparatory room immediately after concert to hand out singer prizes, ensure that singers clean up any messes they made, and collect any lost and found items in the choir room (give to a board member), ensuring that room is in the same condition as it was when the choir arrived.
Intermediate Choir Chaperone (12 volunteers total; 4 at each concert)
MUST BE AN INTERMEDIATE MOM: Help singers and Director as needed; you will sit with the girls during the concert. Chaperones will help ensure singers are “concert” ready, quiet during choir rehearsal prior to concert, and during concert. Must arrive at 9am. Chaperones will sit with their assigned choir during the concert, and will be able to watch the Intermediate choir perform. Chaperones accompany Intermediate choir backstage at some points during concert, and may not be able to view performances of other choirs during concert. Chaperones return to Intermediate room immediately after concert to hand out singer prizes, ensure that singers clean up any messes they make, and collect any lost and found items in the choir room (give to a board member), ensuring that room is in the same condition as it was when the choir arrived.
Apprentice Choir Chaperone (12 volunteers total; 4 at each concert)
MUST BE AN APPRENTICE MOM: Help singers and Director as needed; you will sit with the girls during the concert. Chaperones will help ensure singers are “concert” ready, quiet during choir rehearsal prior to concert, and during concert. Must arrive at 8:30am. Chaperones will sit with their assigned choir during the concert, and will be able to watch the Apprentice choir perform. Chaperones accompany Apprentice choir backstage at some points during concert, and may not be able to view performances of other choirs during concert. Chaperones return to Apprentice room immediately after concert to hand out singer prizes, ensure that singers clean up any messes they make, and collect any lost and found items in the choir room (give to a board member), ensuring that room is in the same condition as it was when the choir arrived.
Concert Choir Chaperone (12 volunteers total; 4 at each concert)

Chaperones return to Concert Choir room immediately after concert to hand out singer prizes, ensure that singers clean up any messes they make, and collect any lost and found items in the choir room (give to a board member), ensuring that room is in the same condition as it was when the choir arrived.
OTHER JOBS
Crossing Guard at Wednesday rehearsals (15 volunteers total; each assists at 2 rehearsals)
Arrive at 6:15pm to retrieve safety vest and stop sign. Stop traffic to allow singers and parents to cross the crosswalk to the parking lot. Stay until the last singer is picked up, or until 6:45pm. If any singers remain, bring them back to Room 500 where a Board member will call a parent. This job requires a two week commitment, and dates are included on the SUG.
Crossing Guard at Singer Saturday (3 volunteers total; November 4, February 24, April 20)
Arrive at 11:30 am to retrieve safety vest and stop sign. Stop traffic to allow singers and parents to cross the crosswalk to the parking lot. Stay until the last singer is picked up, or until 12:30 pm. If any singers remain, bring them back to Room 500 where a Board member will call a parent. The dates for this role are included on the SUG, and one volunteer is needed per Saturday.
Auditions Assistant (3 volunteers per audition date)
Help the Membership Chair welcome and sign in parents and girls at auditions. Answer questions from parents and singers and assist Membership Chair with any needs during the audition process. Escort singers to room for audition.
Assist with Uniform Fittings (3 volunteers per fitting date)
Help the Uniforms Chair with fitting and recording of dress and shoe orders.
See’s Candy Database Creator (1 volunteer)
NEEDS EXCEL EXPERIENCE. Works with the See’s Candy Committee Lead to enter data for candy sales in spreadsheet to create summary of items ordered and totals.
See’s Candy Order Helper (5 volunteers)
Help See’s Candy Committee Lead to verify that funds collected match orders taken. Will require working during a rehearsal and using a calculator to compute totals. Additional help may be required the following week for late orders. The date for this volunteer role can be found on the SUG, but subject to change.
See’s Candy Phone order verifier part A (1 volunteer)--remote job/flexible dates
After the initial order is collected, this person calls choir families for inconsistencies found on their order forms as well as tracking any missing or late orders. This job can be done remotely between September 27 and October 4.
See’s Candy Phone order verifier part B (1 volunteer)--remote job, November 15 & 16
After the See's Candy drop off on November 15, this volunteer will call families with remaining orders to arrange for candy pick up.
See’s Candy Sorter (6 volunteers)
Helps See’s Committee Lead sort chocolate orders received into bags for each Singer’s order. Will meet sometime during the week prior to the 11/15 choir rehearsal in the evening. Date, time and location to be determined (depends on candy arrival date). Approximately 2-hour time commitment.
See’s Candy Driver and Distributor (5 volunteers)
MUST HAVE A MINIVAN OR SUV. Work with the See’s Candy Committee Lead to help deliver candy to Charlotte Wood Middle school before rehearsal on 11/15, and distribute bagged orders to families. Meet to collect candy, drive to CWMS, arrive before 4:10 and be ready to distribute candy to arriving parents. May require return at pick up on 11/15 to finish hand off of candy orders. Remaining orders will be given to "Sees Candy phone order verifier part B volunteer", who will contact families who didn't pick up orders.
Chaperone- Concert Choir Tree Lighting Performance (3 volunteers)--November 24
MUST BE A CONCERT CHOIR PARENT. Meet at SRVHS at 3:30 pm. Chaperone while choir practices, assisting Concert Director with any tasks. Walk with singers from SRVHS to Old Oak Tree, help them get ready as needed. Help assist dismissal of singers to parents after DGC performs at the event.
Chaperone- Concert Choir Elementary School Tour (8 volunteers)--Thursday, November 30
MUST BE A CONCERT CHOIR PARENT. Drive your car with the singers all day on Thursday November 30 (8am – 3pm); help as needed at each concert site. Must be cleared as a driving volunteer through Be A Mentor.
Collect Sheet Music (9 volunteers total; 3 for each date)
Help collect sheet music from singers before rehearsal, then sort music. To be done at one rehearsal, prior to each concert. Dates for this volunteer role are on the SUG.
DVD Preparer- Concert Choir Tour (1 volunteer)
MUST BE A CONCERT CHOIR PARENT. Collect photos taken by various chaperones on concert choir tour and prepare a DVD to be shown at the POPS Concert. Must use platform that can be easily uploaded and played on a computer (PowerPoint, etc.)
End of Year Party Assistants (3 volunteers)
Help Events Board Member as needed, including with check-in, food, and overall supervision of girls at end of year party. EXACT DATE AND TIME OF EVENT WILL BE SET LATER.
Provide Singer Saturday snacks for one choir (8 volunteers per Singer Saturday; 3 events each year)
Bring snacks at the beginning of Singer Saturday for one choir group. Please ensure that the snacks are nut & gluten free. Two volunteers will work together to provide one fruit, one carb snack and one candy for each singer in the group. Updated group numbers can be verified with the Membership board member. (Past examples include cutie oranges, individual chip bags, and fruit snacks)
Halloween Party Snacks on 10/25 (2 volunteers per choir; 8 volunteers total)
Bring snacks at the beginning of regular Wednesday rehearsal on 10/25, and deliver to room 501 (where Board members work during rehearsals). Two volunteers will work together to provide one fruit, one carb snack and one candy for each singer in their assigned choir. Updated group numbers can be verified with the Membership board member. Please ensure that the snacks are nut & gluten free.
